Queensland University of Technology will introduce the first practical hands-on day of their new MRI for Radiation Therapists course in 2021, to be hosted at HIRF. Spectrum spoke with HIRF Acting Director, Professor Katie McMahon about the development of this important educational program. The article was published in the March edition, available online to ASMIRT members.
There are exciting advances in MR-guided radiation therapy with the first MR-Linac installed in Townsville in 2019. QUT’s radiation therapy gurus, Peta Rutledge and Julie Burbery, developed an online continuing professional eduction program in coordination with HIRF staff, Clare Berry and Katie McMahon, on how to address the MRPBA professional capabilities. To complement the online course, a practical day has been developed which covers MR safety and patient screening, MR positioning, common oncology scan protocols, anatomy and motion and artefact corrections.
